Wildlife Support at The Vets Sale
At The Vets Sale, we believe that caring for animals goes beyond our beloved pets. Our local wildlife are a precious and unique part of Australia, and we are committed to doing what we can to support them.
We are not wildlife experts, but we do provide triage and first aid for injured animals as part of our responsibility to the community and to the land we share. This service is always free of charge, and we dedicate our time and resources to give injured wildlife the best possible chance of survival.
πΏ How We Help
- First Aid & Triage: We can assess injured or sick wildlife and provide urgent care.
- Referral & Rehabilitation: Where possible, we connect with licensed carers and rescue groups who specialise in long-term rehabilitation.
- Community Awareness: We encourage everyone to take simple steps that make a big difference for our native animals.
π Preventing Road Trauma
Sadly, many wildlife emergencies come from road accidents. We ask the community to:
- Slow down at dawn and dusk β this is when kangaroos, wombats, and other animals are most active.
- Stay alert on rural roads β especially near bushland and water sources.
Stop and check safely β if you see a deceased animal, please check the pouch, as joeys or other young may still be alive.
π Why It Matters
Australiaβs wildlife is unique and vulnerable. Many of our native species are threatened or endangered, and each life saved contributes to the survival of these precious animals. By working together β vets, carers, and the wider community β we can make a real difference.
πΈ A Final Word
We all share this land β people, pets, and wildlife. By looking out for each other, we honour the connection we have with nature and ensure that future generations will continue to live alongside the incredible creatures that make Australia so special.
If you come across injured or orphaned wildlife, please contact our clinic or your nearest licensed wildlife rescue organisation. Together, we can help save lives.
If you find injured wildlife, please call us so we can help.
